2019年より前はメジャーリーグのトレード期限は7月31日に設定され、ノンウェイバートレード期限とも呼ばれていました。
ウェイバーにかけることなく選手をトレードできる期限だっため、そう呼ばれていたのですが、現在はルールが変わっています。
以前は7月31日以降もウェイバーにかけることでトレードを成立させることができたのですが、現在はトレード期限を過ぎた後のトレードは成立させることができないようになっています。
MLB公式サイトには以下のように書かれています。
2019 rule change
Prior to 2019, July 31 was referred to as the non-waiver Trade Deadline, and players could be traded after that date if they first cleared revocable trade waivers.
Although trades could be completed after Aug. 31 under the old rules, the last day in August was sometimes colloquially referred to as the “waiver Trade Deadline,” as players acquired after that date were ineligible to be added to the postseason roster by their new teams.
選手をポストシーズンに登録できるかどうかの期限となる8月31日がウェーバートレード期限として以前は成立していました。
ウェーバーをクリアした選手であれば、トレードの対象とすることができていたということです。
もちろん現在でも2023年シーズン中にエンゼルスがルーカス・ジオリトなどにやったようで、単にウェイバーにかけて選手を手放すことができますが、トレードの形ではできないようになっています。
The Trade Deadline is the last point during the season at which players can be traded from one club to another.
以前のようにトレード期限が7月31日に固定されていないため、2023年は8月1日の午後6時(東部時間)になっていました。
The 2023 Trade Deadline falls on Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. ET. Prior to the most recent CBA, the Trade Deadline almost always fell on July 31 at 4 p.m. ET.
そして2024年は以下のように決定していることが報じられています。
